The Christian Fundamentalist ConclusionA Christian Fundamentalist will flip here to the end first before reading most of the preceding material. If the Christian Fundamentalist had read all of the preceding text first he'd know that all of Christianity is based on this problem of starting at the end. Christian Fundamentalists are more concerned with their own correctness than they are with living by sound principles. The end always justifies the means. What the Christian Fundamentalist finds most appealing about Christianity is that because he knows the ending of the story he does not have to bother with the trifles of human suffering. All the evil that men do to each other is of no concern to the Christian Fundamentalist. Things like: slavery, genocide of Native Americans, saturation bombing of civilians and torture, are taken in stride because it all comes out okay in the end for the Christian Fundamentalist; he is not inconvenienced by these things. Any secular changes in life that benefit the whole of society are viewed by the Christian Fundamentalist as persecution of his beliefs. If his Christian beliefs cause others to suffer that is an acceptable consequence of the Christian Fundamentalist's happiness. If torture of others helps the Christian Fundamentalist sleep better at night, then torture is justified; Christ's principles be damned. However, if anyone tries to alter the ending of the Christian Fundamentalist's story, woe unto that person! He will not listen to that person regardless of the facts. If someone alters the Christian Fundamentalist's ending he feels persecuted. If he does not get his way he flips-to-the-end and consoles himself with the vengeance that one day will be his, just as John did on the island of Patmos. The whole point of this text is that no convert to Christianity stops to question the validity of the document on which they are about to place their very life upon. I never did, even after I left the religion. All I knew was that there could be a God, Christianity may be correct, but the Fundamentalist version of God could not possibly be the same divinity that comprised Jesus. No being, except the most diabolically evil being ever to exist, could create a universe this vast for the sole purpose of sending everyone in it to Hell; and the only means of salvation is to somehow figure out the evil plan and worship this being so that he won't send you to hell. This being could only be created by people filled with hate. This hatred drives them to the desperate hope that everyone will burn in Hell's fire forever. Heaven then is being able to watch the torment below. The Christian Fundamentalist's message is not a message of hope. It's a message of hoped for vengeance. A Christian Fundamentalist's faith, therefore, is in the destruction of mankind and the satisfaction that comes from being right (Rev. 2:10-11). Salvation is for self and self alone. The desire for vengeance is so strong that one will concoct and worship a God that sets Hell as the default ending for life. The desire for vengeance is so strong that it cannot be weakened by the truth presented in this text. The desire for vengeance is so strong that proof that there will be no vengeance must be ignored. Science can not keep the blessed day of reckoning from coming. Nor will the principles of Jesus Christ stand in the way of the final vengeance. It should be obvious that the reason conservative Christians cling to this view comes from a selfish "me-first" mentality and not from God. This mentality is completely anti-Christ. Follow it at your own peril. |
